Karamoja Women Umbrella Organization (KAWUO) www.kawuo.org is a women’s network which was formed in 2007 in Karamoja region by grass-root women to build and promote the local women’s participation in democratic governance and
leadership, women access to justice, women economic empowerment and HIV/AIDS prevention response through Lobby and Advocacy, capacity building, networking and partnership in order to achieve sustainable development in the region. KAWUO is fully
registered with Uganda NGO Bureau with a permit to operate countrywide. Currently KAWUO operates in Seven Districts of Karamoja with Head office in Moroto.

Are you passionate about gender equity, social justice, and driving community-led change in the Karamoja region? Karamoja Women Umbrella Organization (KAWUO) is seeking dedicated, qualified professionals to fill the following vacancies at our Moroto Head Office.
Below are the open positions and key requirements. Review the criteria to see where your skills align.

 
1. Program Officer – Women’s Governance & Leadership
Role Summary: Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to scale up our Women’s Governance and Leadership department.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Women and Gender, Development Studies, SWASA, or Governance. A Master’s degree or Postgraduate Diploma is a strong asset.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in development project implementation, donor reporting, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
  • Key Requirements: Proven experience in gender-transformative approaches within conflict or emergency settings, team management, and proposal writing.
2. Junior Project Officer – End Child Marriage Project
Role Summary: Implement field-level project activities, conduct community dialogues, and provide technical support to protect girls and transform social norms.
  • Education: University Degree in Social Sciences, Law, Human Rights, Gender Studies, or Development Studies. (A relevant Diploma plus 2 extra years of experience is accepted).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a similar donor-funded NGO environment.
  • Key Requirements: Strong community mobilization skills, computer literacy, data collection abilities, and a valid license/ability to ride a field motorcycle.
  • Languages: Fluency in English and working knowledge of Nga’karimojong are required.
3. Transport & Logistics Assistant – Driver
Role Summary: Ensure safe transit for staff and visitors, manage vehicle maintenance, and oversee warehouse inventory control and stock records.
  • License & Education: Valid clean Driving License. A Diploma in Logistics, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management is a major advantage.
  • Certifications: Professional training in Defensive Driving and First Aid is highly desired.
  • Key Requirements: High-level driving skills, basic vehicle repair knowledge, and experience in warehouse stock audits or inventory tracking.
